One Year On: How Jon Tucker Is Helping Brands Level Up Their Labels and Packaging
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since Sales Manager Jon Tucker joined the InkREADible team, mainly because it feels like he’s been part of the furniture from day one…the problem‑solving, customer‑focused kind of furniture.
In just 12 months, Jon has helped transform the way we support customers: from smarter benchmarking and cost‑saving production tweaks, to sourcing innovative materials and expanding into exciting new product lines. His knack for turning a customer’s idea into a label that looks great, performs brilliantly and fits the budget has quickly made him an invaluable part of the inkREADible family.
To mark his first year, we sat down with Jon to reflect on the past 12 months, and look at what’s next for 2026. Here’s what he had to say…
Since joining InkREADible, what’s been the biggest surprise you’ve found when comparing suppliers for customers?
The biggest surprise has been just how much innovation there is within the label industry and how many opportunities there are to help businesses elevate their packaging. It's not always about reducing costs – it's about finding the right material, adding premium embellishments, choosing more sustainable options, improving production efficiencies, or creating a label that helps a product stand out on the shelf.
One thing that has really impressed me since joining InkREADible is how we're at the forefront of label innovation. We're constantly exploring the latest materials, finishes and embellishments, giving our customers access to solutions that not every supplier can offer. Whether it's sustainable materials, premium foiling and embossing, tactile finishes, peel-and-reveal labels or new packaging formats, we're always looking at ways to help our customers add value to their products.
It's reinforced to me that choosing a label supplier isn't just about buying labels – it's about working with a company that brings fresh ideas, technical expertise and a genuine desire to help your brand grow.
Can you share a recent example where benchmarking helped a customer save money or improve their label quality?
We've had several great examples this year. One customer approached us looking to reduce costs, and after benchmarking their existing labels we were able to offer a more efficient production method that reduced their unit cost while maintaining the same premium appearance. In another case, we recommended changing the reel configuration, which improved the customer's application process and reduced downtime on their production line. Even small changes can often make a significant difference.
What do new clients usually struggle with when choosing the right label material or embellishment, and how do you guide them through it?
Most customers know how they want their product to look but aren't always sure which materials will perform best in real-life conditions. They'll often ask about waterproof materials, freezer performance, sustainability, or premium finishes like foiling and embossing. My job is to understand where the label will be used, how the product is stored, and what image they're trying to create. From there, we can recommend the right combination of material, adhesive and embellishments to achieve the best result without overspending.
You've brought in a lot of new customers this year — what do you think they're looking for most in a label supplier?
Price will always be important, but I don't think it's the deciding factor on its own. Customers want a supplier who is responsive, knowledgeable and easy to deal with. They want confidence that deadlines will be met, quality will be consistent, and someone will be available when they need advice.
One of our biggest strengths is our team. Dawn and Linda do a fantastic job of looking after our customers and building long-term relationships, while Darren's production knowledge ensures we consistently produce labels to an exceptionally high standard. Walter works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our customers receive their labels on time. That combination of great service, quality and reliability is what really sets InkREADible apart.
You have started exploring new product lines like stand-up pouches and metal labels. How do you decide which innovations are worth bringing to customers?
It's all about listening to what our customers are asking for. If we're repeatedly hearing requests for complementary products, it makes sense to explore whether we can offer them. Stand-up pouches are a natural extension for many of our food and drink customers, while metal labels open opportunities in completely different markets. Any new product has to fit our values of quality, reliability and adding genuine value for customers.
What part of your role gives you the most satisfaction — benchmarking, helping customers switch suppliers, or finding new eco packaging solutions like Ocean Bound recycled PP?
It's probably a combination of all three but helping a customer realise they can improve both quality and cost through benchmarking is particularly rewarding. I also enjoy introducing customers to more sustainable options, such as Ocean Bound recycled PP and other environmentally responsible materials, especially when they discover they don't have to sacrifice performance or appearance to make a better environmental choice.
What's been your proudest moment in your first year at InkREADible?
Without doubt, becoming part of such a fantastic team. We've welcomed many new customers over the past year, but what has impressed me most is how everyone pulls together to deliver the very best experience.
Watching Dawn and Linda build genuine relationships with customers, seeing Darren's attention to detail in production, and knowing Walter is making sure orders leave on time worldwide every day gives me real confidence when speaking to prospects. It's easy to sell when you know you've got such a committed team behind you.
Building those customer relationships and contributing to the company's continued growth has made my first year incredibly rewarding, and I'm excited about what we can achieve together over the coming years.
Team inkREADible - Christmas 2025
Following a strong first 12 months, what are your priorities for the year ahead?
My focus is on continuing to grow our customer base while strengthening relationships with existing clients. I'd like to expand our benchmarking service, continue developing our stand-up pouch and metal label offering, and help more businesses discover sustainable packaging solutions.
Just as importantly, I want to keep building on the fantastic reputation we've earned for customer service. We already have a brilliant team in place, and by continuing to work together I believe we can establish InkREADible as one of the UK's leading specialist label manufacturers, known not only for quality products but also for outstanding people.
