Decanter and inkREADible

a beautiful working relationship…

Some of our customer relationships go back a long way.  The growth we have personally experienced, as a commercial label printing company, comes hand in hand with the support, faith and trust that has been placed in us by our customers.

One such example is our relationship with Danny John Casely, Events & Awards Operations and Procurement at Decanter, which goes back well over a decade. We have both seen a lot of changes and developments in our respective businesses and industries, so it is fair to say we have pretty much grown up together or at least evolved together!

Back in 2007 we started out printing roughly 100,000 awards labels and stickers to support The Decanter World Wine Awards. As the competition has grown in the number of participants, adding new categories, as well as new territories in which to hold the awards, so accordingly have the number of labels we at inkREADible print, which is now over 10 million every year. Decanter has become one of our largest consumers of awards labels, placing important orders for high quality stickers and labels for wine bottles.

Why have the wine awards become so successful?

Since Danny joined Decanter in 2007, the number of staff have increased from around 20 to nearly 50 team members. Currently the Decanter World Wine Awards is the largest and most influential wine competition globally. But why? Because wine producers know that entering such a prestigious competition gives them independent and trusted recognition; being  awarded a medal, without doubt translates into wine sales.

Additionally, Decanter Retailer Awards recognise the best wine shops and online wine sellers to provide a highly regarded  guide for UK wine drinkers.

Despite the difficulties surrounding COVID 19, the Decanter Wine Awards enjoyed fantastic success in 2020 being the biggest ever, all while following strict social distancing guidelines. 70,000 bottles of wine were entered and assessed by over 100 judges. No mean feat given the circumstances!

The success of 2020 has given Danny John and Decanter the appetite to beat this record and are looking for the 2021 awards to be even bigger and better!

If you want to improve your brand awareness, secure new markets, and increase wine sales, it is proven that winning a Decanter award will most definitely help. So, why not enter the 2021 Decanter Wine Awards, find out how to here (the deadline for entries is April 6th 2021).

Masterclass wine tasting virtual events

To replace the successful wine tasting events that Decanter normally host, which were cancelled due to the pandemic, they came up with a genius idea - to offer wine tasting in the comfort of your own home. This is an online event where between 6-10 sample bottles of wine for tasting are sent to the participant who then is able to attend a scheduled live webinar to learn and share ideas. While the wine samples can only be delivered within the UK, anybody can watch the recorded webinar for a small fee.

Run on a monthly basis, this event is hugely popular and sells out quickly. See their website for this and other wine tasting opportunities Fine Wine Events | Decanter | Wine Tastings

A strong online presence

The Decanter website offers wine consumers a wealth of information on every aspect of wine and its production. It also recognises key people within the industry and provides reviews and opinions. The website provides insightful wine oriented travel guides, restaurant and bar recommendations from all over the world and even wine themed quizzes. In addition to the usual social media platforms, Decanter even boast their own YouTube channel offering useful industry and consumer advice on a range of subjects. The brand have also launched an App named Decanter Know Your Wine, bringing together wine lovers and wine sellers in a wonderfully unique and useful way.

What does the future hold for Decanter?

You can guarantee that Decanter will continue to evolve and the future looks bright for wine producers. Decanter already run Panel Tastings on a monthly basis. This is where three experts in their field review chosen flights of wines and these are then awarded a score and can proudly display the panel tastings labels.

Watch out for Decanter Recommends - a new metallic medal sticker that can be proudly displayed by those recommended by Decanter.

The 2021 diary will continue to fill up with virtual wine tastings and Decanter World Wine events already planned, subject to Covid19, in November for London and Shanghai. There is even talk of hosting an additional event in New York in 2022. Could this get any better?

And the future for inkREADible?

At inkREADible we print large quantities of labels for business and they can shipped al around the world, as we do for Decanter. We are experienced at dealing with large print runs and are specialists in awards labels, working alongside many competitions within the food and drink industry to supply stickers and quality foiled labels. We also print wine labels for a number of highly regarded wine producers.

We feel honoured to continue to enjoy a truly unique relationship with Decanter and wish them great success in the future.
