What are private label brands?
Private labelled products are brands owned not by a manufacturer or producer but by a retailer or supplier who gets its goods made by a contract manufacturer under its own label. Also called private brand or phantom brand.

Who manufactures private label products?
Generally, there are three main manufacturers classifications who produce private label products:
- Large manufacturers who produce their own brands and also private label products.
- Small to medium size manufacturers who specialise in certain products and almost exclusively produce for private label brands.
- Major retailers and wholesalers operating their own manufacturing of private label products for their own stores.
