EU Food Regulations

New EU Regulations

Many of our customers are food producers so we wanted to share some important information with you.

No doubt you are aware that in December 2014 the new EU Regulation 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers entered into application.

From 13th December 2016 it will become your obligation to provide nutrition information on your labels and packaging.

The reason for these new labelling rules are simply to give consumers better access to clear, comprehensive and reliable food information.

The key changes include:

  • Mandatory nutritional information on processed foods.

  • Mandatory origin labelling of unprocessed meat from pigs, sheep, goats and poultry.

  • Highlighting allergens e.g. peanuts or milk in the list of ingredients.

  • Better legibility i.e. minimum size of text.

You may have already made changes to your existing labels in preparation for this change in the labelling rules, if not then now is the time to consider what changes need to be made to your current labels and packaging to fall in line with these regulations.

If you would like to receive a no obligation quotation on the printing of your revised labels we would be delighted to hear from you.  You can complete our online contact form here:
